Bios

Co-founder of ProgressiveKid and Green Goat Books and regular contributor to On a Ledge, Julie is a writer whose poetry has won grants and awards and appeared in anthologies and magazines, including The Nation, The Threepenny Review, and Bloom. Her book-length collection of poems was a finalist for the 2003 Ohio State University Press/The Journal Award in Poetry. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Writing. She has published twelve nonfiction books for children and has worked as a freelance writer and editor of curriculum; career, health, and travel books; business materials; and website copy for nineteen years. She is the author of Green Goat Books’ new book for kids about global warming, A Hot Planet Needs Cool Kids, and the accompanying curriculum packet. In addition to co-managing ProgressiveKid, Julie writes, photographs, and designs for our products, websites, blog, and ads.

In addition to being the co-founder of ProgressiveKid and Green Goat Books, Sarah is a published writer and illustrator whose fiction has won awards, and she is a regular contributor to On a Ledge. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Fine Arts in Writing. She has worked as a curriculum and business editor and writer for twenty years, trained teachers, taught writing at the high school and college levels, and worked as a professional graphic designer. She illustrated Julie’s new book A Hot Planet Needs Cool Kids. She has also written a number of multicultural curriculum books for teachers and is writing and designing the curriculum packet and Kids’ Climate Change Challenge game to accompany Hot Planet. At ProgressiveKid, Sarah co-manages as well as illustrates, designs, wrangles our technology, and writes for our products, websites, blog, and advertising.
